Artist. Educator. Lover of Color and Texture.
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Beth Pianezza. I am an artist and educator. I teach high school art in Springfield, IL where I teach a variety of art courses ranging for Introduction courses to AP Art Studio. I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and two minors (Psychology and Art History). I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with my Masters in Art degree in Art Education in the spring of 2020.
Art has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was young I would create artwork out of anything I could get my hands on and this passion continues today. I love exposing students to the possibilities that art can be made out of found materials, as well as traditional media. I enjoy exploring different art mediums as well as experimenting with how they can work with one another. I am always trying new techniques to broaden my artistic vocabulary. My recent interests in art making techniques include encaustics, relief printmaking, and book binding.
Teaching students to create personal and meaningful artwork while learning to take risks and exploring new mediums is my passion. I believe that art has the power to teach much more than just technical skill by using a holistic approach. Through studying art- perseverance, divergent thinking, collaboration, and many other skills can be learned and strengthened.
Outside of the classroom, I can be found spending time with my family, gardening, creating party decorations and catching up on sleep.
